Are Granite Floor Tiles Good?


Granite is one of the most well-known natural stones that are popular when it comes to flooring and counter tops.  It is a stone that is very hard and is very durable and resistant against water and staining.  Though if it is resistant towards water and other moistures, it is always highly recommended to still get it sealed in rooms such as kitchens and bathrooms where water is always present.

Disadvantages:
- If not sealed regularly, granite can be rather tough and time consuming to maintain.
- Installing granite is not recommended as a DIY project. It is highly recommended to have a professional handle the installation.
- If an anti-slip is not done to the surface of granite, it can become very slippery when wet.

Though you will find that there are a few disadvantages to choosing granite, though they can be avoided by applying a sealant or anti-slip.  It is always recommended when installing such an investment in your home or office, that having a professional handle the installation is best.

Upon saying that, granite is a very durable stone and can handle nearly anything thrown its way, the stone can crack is placed under tension.  It is important that the subfloor is solid and has no flex.  If it is a flexing subfloor, it can cause your granite to bend and eventually crack.  Making sure that all low spots are filled and all high spots are grounded down will help prevent this as well.
